# Apache Airflow Airflow is a platform created by the community to programmatically author, schedule and monitor workflows. ## Task Instances > A specific run of a task; characterized as: a DAG, a Task, and a point in time. It has an indicative state: running, success, failed, skipped, ... Much in the same way that a DAG is instantiated into a DAG Run each time it runs, the tasks under a DAG are instantiated into Task Instances.
